Admission & Scholarships
Most children join the school in the September after their fourth birthday. Typically, we have many enquiries each November to January for the following September for our Reception class, which has a maximum size of 14. We are a family school, so we give preference to siblings and children who have been with us through the nursery. We do not screen academic ability.
Each year we may be able to offer a very limited number of places to older children. We will usually invite a prospective pupil to spend a morning with us so that the assessment is more relaxed and the child has an opportunity to get a feel for the school. We will also interview parents to ensure they are happy to support our policies and to ensure we are all working in the best interest of the child.
Admissions Procedure
The starting point for most prospective parents is to visit the school.
If you would like to do this, all you have to do is contact us and we will be pleased to invite you to join us and see the school on a normal working day. You will have a chance to meet the Headmaster and to sample the friendly atmosphere which is our hallmark.
A second visit will then be organised for you to be interviewed by the Governors either at the School or in your family home. This will give you an opportunity to discuss any questions you may have and to find out about our partnership with parents.
Then, if you like what you see, you pay a registration fee. A formal offer will follow. Offers are sent out at the end of February, and you usually have about ten days to secure your child’s place by paying the initial deposit.
In practice, this means that the class list is normally complete by the middle of March and parents are then invited to a talk by Mr Wynn in early June. This talk answers all of your questions about the practical details of your child’s first year at school. It also gives you a chance to meet other parents and to exchange numbers, so that the children can get together during the summer and become friends.
